210 science 2

You will write a research paper about the demographic transition model and global food production and distribution for a growing human population to meet global food security goals. You must use APA format for the paper and documentation.

Include the following:

·         Describe the demographic transition model and how it was developed by demographers.

·         Describe the 4 phases of demographic transition.

o    For each phase, compare crude birth rates (CBR) to crude death rates (CDR), and state whether the population is stable, growing, or declining in each. ·

·         According to demographers, what factors lead to a decline of the CDR in phase two and the CBR in phase three of the demographic transition? ·

·         Briefly describe 3 living conditions in developed countries that have reached phase four, and contrast them with these same conditions in developing countries that remain in earlier phases.

o    Note: When comparing and contrasting, include details for each of the entities being compared and contrasted. For example, if comparing availability of clean water in a developed country, contrast availability of clean water in a developing country.

·         Research and describe a program for developing countries that would help improve 1 of the 3 conditions that you compared.

·         Food security means that everyone has an adequate amount of nutritious food to lead healthy lives. Research and describe 1 specific program that helps developing countries reach food security goals.

Assignment 1: LASA 2: Monitoring Our Home Planet

The Internet is a powerful tool that provides the ability to monitor natural phenomena and disasters that happen all over planet Earth.

In this assignment, you will research resources available on the Internet for monitoring natural phenomena including earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, global climate, and weather.

Based on your research, do the following:

  • Identify a minimum of three different natural phenomena that are typically responsible for natural disasters. Analyze the potential impact of these disasters.
  • Analyze how these phenomenon are monitored, or not, via the Internet. Critique available Web sites, which publicly display up-to-date monitored information related to each of the natural phenomena you have identified. Focus on the following aspects:
    • Geography
      • What parts of the world are potentially affected by these phenomena? Specifically identify the countries.
    • Resources
      • What kinds of resources are allocated toward monitoring these phenomena and why?
      • What types of Web resources monitor the phenomena and provide up-to-date information about them?
      • What kinds of technology are involved in monitoring the phenomena?
    • Politics
      • What political ramifications would this disaster-preparedness technology cause between more-developed countries and less-developed countries?
      • What kinds of issues could this technology cause between less-developed countries?
    • Economics
      • How would this technology directly impact the economies of those countries that have the technology versus those countries that do not?
      • Do you predict any indirect impacts? What current evidence supports your position?
    • Disaster Preparedness
      • What types of systems are in place in terms of disaster preparedness related to these monitored phenomena?
  • Summarize your findings. Evaluate how this technology will impact the future of humanity, both positively and negatively. Be sure to consider the political and economic issues discussed in your future predictions.

Support your statements with examples. Use a minimum of six reliable references, two of which should be peer-reviewed articles.

Write a 7–8-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M5_A1.doc.

Instructions: You will need to write a 1-page lab report using the scientific method centered on the known phenomena of CO2 emissions, related to the following question:

  • Would you expect to see an increase or decrease in CO2 emission in the data over the past 40 years? Why?

When your lab report is complete, post it in Submitted Assignment files.

Part I: In the Web site link given in the assignment description, you will see an interactive map of the world titled “GMD Measurement Locations.”  You can zoom in and out and move the map around within the window. In the map, choose 5 sites that are labeled with a star, which will have CO2 concentrations.  Follow the steps below to fill in the data table:

  1. Click on a starred location.  (One site will not have CO2 concentrations.)

  2. Once the starred location opens, on the right side of the screen, click on the pictured graph “Examples of Data” for CO2.

  3. Once the graph opens, make a note of the CO2 concentrations from previous years to present day.  Fill in the table below.

  1. Repeat steps 1–3 for all other locations.
  2. Use these results in your lab report to help you assess CO2 concentration trends from 1990 to 2005.

Location Code

Name of City/Country

CO2 Emissions in 1990

CO2 Emissions in 2005

Part II: Write a 1-page lab report using the following scientific method sections:

  • Purpose
    • State the purpose of the lab.
  • Introduction
    • This is an investigation of what is currently known about the question being asked. Use background information from credible references to write a short summary about concepts in the lab. List and cite references in APA style.
  • Hypothesis/Predicted Outcome
    • A hypothesis is an educated guess. Based on what you have learned and written about in the Introduction, state what you expect to be the results of the lab procedures.
  • Methods
    • Summarize the procedures that you used in the lab. The Methods section should also state clearly how data (numbers) were collected during the lab; this will be reported in the Results/Outcome section.
  • Results/Outcome
    • Provide here any results or data that were generated while doing the lab procedure.
  • Discussion/Analysis
    • In this section, state clearly whether you obtained the expected results, and if the outcome was as expected.
    • Note: You can use the lab data to help you discuss the results and what you learned.

Provide references in APA format. This includes a reference list and in-text citations for references used in the Introduction section.

Give your paper a title and number, and identify each section as specified above. Although the hypothesis will be a 1-sentence answer, the other sections will need to be paragraphs to adequately explain your experiment.

When your lab report is complete, post it in Submitted Assignment files.

could you do it?

Hi I would like you to write a simple response, just reply to these 2 students discussions with 100 words each. please use your own words do not copy any thing from the internet.

please no plagiarism.

here is the first one

Human rights should not have to take a back seat to anything. In my opinion, I am glad to see the US talking to new nations and working together. Egypt and the US both have a common enemy and a mutual hatred for terrorism. To me terrorism is a human rights issue. When people have to live in fear from doing their daily routine because they are scared that a truck will plow into the marketplace or a car bomb will go off there is a human rights issue there. We could not solely fix every nations problems for example the Syrian issue needs to be tackled from within Syria. Just recently a gas attack was responsible for over 100 deaths claimed to be the work of Assad. There is a human rights issue there but that doesn’t mean the US has to rush to the rescue. Another example can be North Korea. North Korea is a literally a ticking time bomb. They have some serious human rights issues because their citizens are poor, hungry, and brainwashed by the government. It is a terrible thing but the US cannot rush in and fix the issue because we cannot afford another conflict. Human rights issues I believe need to be fixed within. Two world leaders meeting on the topic of terrorism does not mean they both do not care about the human rights of other nations.

Here is the second one

I personal think that bringing someone who is a dictator to our country was not the best look on our part. However I think them talking about the security issues is important. Them discussing issues like terrorism is important because that is a major issue in the world right now that will eventually effect everyone. I believe that the more countries that start to take a stand against terrorism the easier it will probably be to fight the issue together. Although human rights are a major importance to our country some times we need to put them aside to get a bigger issues handled. I don’t think that we should partake in the issue as a country but I also don’t believe we should start an issue over human rights with political leaders because trying to take down political leaders in the past has only worked against us. I believe that if there becomes a most present issue of human rights than we will need to take a stand but currently it isn’t affecting our country personally so we should be putting bigger issues like terrorism first. I think eventually there will become an issue with human rights so eventually this will be an issue that needs the time an attention just now isn’t the time for that.

Assignment 2: RA 1: t-Tests

Assignment 2: RA 1: t-Tests

Assignment 2: RA 1: t-Tests

Working with Data in Microsoft Excel

Once again, reading about t-test statistics and descriptive statistics is one thing. Actually using software to compute them requires different skill sets. This assignment is designed to give you the opportunity to practice using Microsoft Excel to compute a t-test and to reinforce your learning of computing descriptive statistics from a previous module. A data set has been presented below for you to use to conduct your analyses. The data set represents the scores from five students who were tested on the same material using three different forms of the test.

Name Test 1 Test 2 Test 3

G.    Did May appear to be a profitable month?  (support your answer)

The Promises and Perils of Nuclear Power

ALL WORK MUST BE COMPLETED ON TIME AND MUST BE ALL ORIGINAL AS IT GOES THROUGH A TURNITIN PROGRAM ALSO  ALL QUESTIONS MUST BE ANSWERED IN FULL DETAIL  AND ALL PAPERS MUST BE OF QUALITY OR IT WILL NEED TO BE REDONE AND OR REFUNDED

—The Promises and Perils of Nuclear Power

The term nuclear power refers to the production of electrical energy via controlled nuclear reactions. These reactions generate heat that, in turn, creates steam that runs the generators to produce electricity. Approximately 1/8th of the electricity produced in the world is derived from nuclear power. In this assignment, you will analyze the use of nuclear power as an energy resource.

Respond to the following:

  • Discuss the scientific and technical concepts related to the use of nuclear power as an energy resource. Address the following in your response:
    • How is energy released in a nuclear reaction?
    • How are nuclear reactions controlled?
    • What elements are involved in nuclear power production?
    • What nuclear forces are involved?
  • Explain the advantages and disadvantages of nuclear energy, detailing issues related to production, delivery, cost, radiation, air quality, and waste.
  • Identify a country whose electricity production infrastructure relies heavily on nuclear power. Compare and contrast the use of nuclear power in the United States with the use of nuclear power in this country. Provide examples of the use of nuclear power in your community or state.
  • Consider the three major nuclear accidents in the history of the industry: 3-Mile Island (USA), Chernobyl (Ukraine), and Fukushima Dai-Ichi (Japan). What lessons have been learned from these nuclear accidents that can be or have been used to make nuclear power safer?

Write your initial response in 2–3 paragraphs. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.
