How would you Reply in 400 words

Descriptive writing is supposed to awaken some of your senses as if you were in that place and time with the writer. “Mick, Mom, and Me” Anderson, M.  (2017) has both strong descriptive writing and spots it could improve on. The author talks about the fireworks leaving “burnt sulfur smells” in the air. I could practically smell it. I remembered my own experience with fireworks. When she described sounds they were vivid as well. Examples of this were in the very beginning when she “shrieked loud enough to wake the neighbors” or the “nasal singing” of the Smashing Pumpkins. Being a teenage girl at one point I have shrieked before. I felt her excitement in that wording and I heard the sound. When she described the nasal singing of Billy I heard him just like when I went to see him in concert. They transferred me as if I was there with her. Things I would have built up a little more would have been her touch aspects. She said “soft black tee” when talking about a shirt her and her mom grabbed. I may have used something to compare it to, to create that picture. “when we both grabbed the same black tee shirt, this tee shirt was so soft like fresh cotton towels that had just been pulled from the dryer”. Another part I would have improved on, was sight, like when she said the sun had set I may have put in what type of sunset it was.  Was it one of those with the oranges that fade into red and then purple? Did it have soft lights that just fade into that deep blue that look like a blanket is covering the world and tucking it into sleep? Anytime I have felt really “there” when reading something is when an author compared it to something that I could pull up from my own memory. The author did great on many aspects surrounding all 5 senses but could have enhanced a few too. All around great writing.

Your replies to classmates should be at least a paragraph in length and should expand, clarify, defend, and/or refine their thoughts. Consider asking questions to further meaningful conversation. Be honest, clear, and concise, referring to specific words and points from your classmates’ postings

Ashford University Discussion

Prepare: For this discussion, you will read Chapter 3 of Making Strategy Count in the Human Services Sectorand select a minimum of one scholarly article from the Ashford library that examines the use of technology in human service organizations (e.g., client/provider communication, use of social media, interventions using communication technology, etc.).

Reflect: As contemporary society seeks to access and capitalize on the use of innovative technologies, human service organizations find themselves working to integrate applicable modalities into the scope of service provision on multiple levels (e.g., use of technology to communicate internally, apply technology to client engagement, etc.). For this discussion, you will consider the role of communicaton within human service organizations and apply your understanding of how pertinent technologies have changed the

landscape of  interaction.  Consider the critical issues that relate to the use of technology as identified in your readings.

Write: First, you will explain the essential features and significance of two distinct electronic communication methods identified in your scholarly article(s).  Next, you will  compare and contrast each method in terms of their individual benefits and limitations as they pertain to meeting the needs of the client group. Finally, discuss the implications of these methods in terms of how they contribute to organizational strategy within a human service organization.

Guided Response: Read the initial responses provided by your classmates and consider the arguments presented within them. Going beyond simply indicating agreement or disagreement with their posts, extend the discussion to include additional reflections, perspectives, and inquiries that foster critical thinking. For this prompt, consider the following when replying: What additional benefits and/or limitations can you identify that are associated with your classmates’ selected communication modalities?  What do you see as the role of these modalities in terms of organizational strategy? What other ways can these modalities be applied in health and human service organizations beyond those described? The initial reply must be a minimum of 300 words

Assignment 2: RA 2: Pulling It All Together

Does background music significantly impact the productivity of patient registration employees?

A group of patient access registrants works in an open office environment in a hospital. A human resources (HR) manager wants to compare the productivity of this group under three conditions: with a constant background sound of music, with an unpredictable background sound of music, and with no background sound of music.

There are twenty-four registrants, and they are randomly divided into three groups. All registrants study a set of written patient registration material for 30 minutes. During this time, those in Group 1 are subject to background music at a constant volume, those in Group 2 are subject to background music with varying volumes, and those in Group 3 are not subject to any sound at all. After studying, all employees take a 10-point multiple-choice test over the material. Their scores are as follows:

Group 1—Constant Sound Group 2—Random Sound Group 3—No Sound
7 5 2
4 5 4
6 3 7
8 4 1
6 4 2
6 7 1
2 2 5
9 2 5

You are to analyze the collected questionnaire data using Microsoft Excel and draw conclusions to report back to the human resources (HR) manager in the form of a research report.

Following is a step-by-step assignment breakdown:

  1. Develop a problem statement that incorporates the scholarly literature to support your rationale.
  2. Develop a research question based on the problem statement.
  3. Formulate a null and an alternative hypothesis set based on the research question.

Week8

*****Due in 6hrs******

***My program of study is in Associates of Business Management****

***The school is Grantham University*****

“Degree Planning”

This week, we introduced the idea of general education – the core courses you will take before you jump into your program of study. In this assignment, you will explore the Grantham University catalog to determine which general education courses you will be taking, along with the elective courses that round out your education.

You will definitely need to read the online catalog in order to complete this assignment.

Review Section 7 in the catalog for the General Education program description, categories, and list of courses.  Make sure you understand why we require students to complete the General Education slate of courses.

Then look for your degree program in Section 8 of the catalog.  You will see each program listed by college (School of Business, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Engineering and Computer Science, School of Nursing and Allied Health).  After reading the description of the program and the student learning outcomes, you will see the tables that list the General Education courses, the Program Core, and the electives.

Once you have read these sections in the catalog, you are ready to start this assignment.  Your job is to write a response to each of the following four prompts:

Prompt 1: General Education Requirements

A.  To start this assignment, write a paragraph explaining the reason why we require students to complete the General Education courses (you may need to refer to section 7 of the catalog for this rationale).

B.  Then using this template list and then describe the courses you will take to complete the General Education requirement for your program.  In some programs, you have choices – in other programs, you do not have choices (they tell you which courses to take).

Prompt 2:  Program Core Requirements

A. In a paragraph state your degree program and explain why you chose your program of study.  In your answer explain how will this program of study will help you in your career advancement?

B. Next, in the same template as Prompt 1, list and describe the courses you are required to complete for the program.  Be sure to point out which courses are pre-requisites for more advanced courses.  This is important because you must enroll in these courses in sequence – you have to pass the pre-requisite before you can attempt the higher course.

Prompt 3:  Electives

Each program has a different number of electives that you can select to complete your degree.  Take note of special requirements, such as the fact that some electives have to be chosen from the program (versus those that can be chosen from any course listed in the catalog). Also note whether the elective must be a course numbered 300 or above.

A.  In the same template as Prompts 1 and 2, include the courses you choose as electives

B.  For each elective include a statement explaining why you are interested in the course in the table

Prompt 4:  Sequencing of Courses, Credit Hours and Graduation Requirements

This is the truly important part of this assignment. Some courses have pre-requisites, which means you have to take a designated lower-level course before you can take the advanced course.

A.  In your template, make sure to designate all classes that have pre-requisites in your template.

Expos Writing M4.2 Noticing Language

** Sample of what this assignment should look like since im getting some pretty CRAZY/ridiculous prices.  it is attached below.. PLEASE VIEW ATTACHMENTS..

** Pls be on time. No grammar errors. No Plagiarism.

M.4.2: Noticing Language

Read Bob Herbert’s “Jim Crow Policing.”  You will notice that Herbert uses two patterns that are especially effective in his essays: (1) the passive voice and (2) word repetition. (https://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/02/opinion/02herbert.html?_r=0)

The passive voice is applied to a verb in a sentence when the “doer” or actual “agent” of the action is after the verb in a “by” phrase or completely missing rather than before the verb. Also, a passive verb always includes a form of “be” and a past participle.

Examples: “is practiced,” “was frisked,” “has been stopped”

Agents can be added to a passive verb in a “by” phrase.

Passive: Racial profiling is practiced in New York (by the police).

Active: Police practice racial profiling in New York.

Writers often use the passive when they don’t know or don’t want to reveal the agent or “doer” of their action. Herbert relies heavily on the passive in his essay because in most cases he often doesn’t know who was responsible for the action he is calling into question.

Herbert starts his essay with a sentence in the passive voice:

“The New York City Police Department needs to be restrained” [by whom?].

1. What other passive verbs do you see in this essay? What effect does this linguistic pattern have on you as a reader?

2. Notice that all the sentences after paragraph 12 are in the active voice. What effect does this shift from passive to active voice have on the message that Herbert is delivering?

3. Herbert also repeats specific words that capture the readers’ attention and keep the focus on these particular concepts. Two examples are stop and frisk, which are repeated throughout the essay. Find three other words or parts of words that Herbert repeats in this essay. What is the effect of these repetitions?

** All this is , is reading the article and answering the 3 questions**

Peer review response

Responding to Classmates

  • Select a classmate’s thread and download his/her attached draft.
  • Reply to his/her thread to indicate the draft is under review (i.e. John Dow is currently reviewing the document).  Do not select the paper if someone else is already reviewing.
  • Read the draft carefully and respond to the questions listed below, either in a new document or at the top of your classmate’s document. At the very least, you must answer the questions, but you can also use the “Comment” function in Microsoft Word to write comments to your classmates within the essay (put your cursor where you want the comment, go to the “Review” tab in Microsoft Word, and select “New Comment”).
  • Complete the review and save the document to your computer.
  • Once you have completed the review, reply to your classmate’s thread and upload the review.

Questions for Peer Review

1. Read your peer’s essay from beginning to end just to let its ideas wash over you.  What are your initial thoughts? Did your peer satisfy the requirements of assignment?  Please explain in detail.

2. Review the essay’s title as well as its introduction and conclusion.  Think about the relationships among these three components. Do they match or do they disagree? Make note of strengths or weaknesses in these crucial areas.  Please explain in detail.

3. Find the essay’s thesis.  Is it clear? Is it well positioned? Paraphrase (put in your own words) the thesis of the essay to check your understanding. Review the assignment guidelines to ensure that your peer’s thesis is on target. Make note of strengths or weaknesses in this area. Please explain in detail.

4. Focus on the individual paragraphs of the essay.  Does each paragraph have a topic sentence that previews the ideas of the paragraph? Observe the essay’s development of paragraphs.  Does each paragraph have a single main idea that relates to the thesis?  Are there any paragraphs that seem disconnected or out of place?

5. Consider the essay’s use of the English language.  Are sentence structures, grammar, spelling, punctuation and mechanics employed effectively, or do errors distract the reader from understanding and enjoying the writer’s analysis? Make note of strengths and weaknesses in this area.  Please explain in detail.

Remember: When in doubt about how to do the peer review, be honest, helpful, and constructive. Saying “Great job! Don’t change a word!” never helped anyone to be a better writer.

Discussion

I need to reply to three classmates on a discussion post.

Each response should not be less than 100 words.

1)I believe the increase in plastic surgery by some of the most popular celebrities has influenced society in forms of eating disorders. As young kids and teenagers grow up the look up to the movie stars and entertainers on tv. If they see those people with perfect bodies they will want to be just like them. Without the resources to get fat removed or have professional chefs like celebrities due the one way to lose weight yes to not eat. Although this way isn’t a healthy option adolescences do not know this or do not understand why. I believe better knowledge at a young age to children can improve eating disorders. Kids should be educated about how celebrities get the bodies they currently have. They should also be educated on nutrition and the positive and negative affects about it.

2)In my opinion, society has contributed to the development of various forms of disordered eating in multiple ways.  Society tells you how you should look and not how you should change habits to get this look.  Society does its best to show examples of the “perfect image” but they do not give examples of how to achieve that image.  There are so many ads and pictures showing models and making people want to change the way they look, but there are no ads to go along with them to tell the proper way to reach that body type.  Without the proper instructions on how to reach their fitness goals, people try to find their own solutions the only way they think they can.  This leads to these eating disorders.  I believe that if society did not just place an ad stating how everyone should look, and placed an ad telling how to change bad habits and lifestyles in order to be healthy and then this look would come with it, these disorders would fade out.  Another way to reduce the problem would be to stop focusing on the image that is being put out and start focusing on the health that should matter more than image, then people would be more motivated to do things the right way and live healthier lives.

3)Off the top of my head, I can see many ways that society has led to the development of various eating disorders. The largest one that comes to mind immediately to me would be the most broad and general one. That being the topic of ‘body shaming’.

In this day and age where social media is a mainstay in people’s lives, the very concept of what is considered ‘normal’ has become undefined. The kind of technology and software that can photoshop regular people to look perfect has become so readily available that it has become all you really see anymore. Because of this, the majority of the generation that develops during this time don’t  even have the chance to define a ‘normal’ for them and try to hold themselves to extreme standards to emulate these people. Such mentality can lead to disorders such as anorexia and bulimia.

Of course, there are ways to reduce the problem. However, like most things, it is easier said than done. The large majority of responsibility to solve this goes to newer generations. Self-esteem can not be given but, it can be taken away. It is important for parents to be involved and interactive during their child’s development so that their heads are not filled with the these impossible expectations. Another way would be to surround yourself with like minded people who do not care what you look like. Teenagers can be quite cruel with their words and having even just a small group of friends can be a reminder that not everyone is going to judge your entire value on your appearance.

The biggest problem with the social media ‘body shaming’ problem is that there is no clear-cut, easy way to solve it. The people who put out a falsified image of perfection for attention are not doing anything illegal and the regulation of that kind of content across social media is impractical at this point. It is up to the new generations to have will and mental fortitude to resist such influences.
