In the past, Congress has mostly acted to extend them – but with budget pressures is certain…. 1 answer below »

It is December 2017 and the manager of a New Haven high-rise apartment building is interested in installing a small wind turbine system on its roof. He figures it will be good for business when trying to attract new tenants. He commissioned a wind study and had an engineer check the roof to see if it could handle the load. Everything looks good on those fronts.
The main concern is finances. The federal government has attractive incentives for “small wind” projects – those of 100 kW hours or less. But some of those are set to expire at the end of the month (December 31, 2017). In the past, Congress has mostly acted to extend them – but with budget pressures on…nothing is certain.
Connecticut also has an attractive rebate program – and the building has been “pre-approved” to participate. But funding for 2017 has run out. The project will have to wait until 2018 to access those funds.
