In your own words, define the concepts of social loafing and social facilitation, along with a brief synopsis concerning why these phenomena occur in the workplace. Describe the types of situations, employees, corporate culture, or tasks tend to lead to this type of behavior, and what management can do to promote facilitation and prevent loafing?
In your answer, be sure to describe how the ability of the individual and the type of task (simple/difficult) are important influences to consider. Is it possible that the individuals’ work ethic or culture matters too? If your response is yes, explain how or in what way it matters.
