I’m trying to study for my Law course and I need some help to understand this question.
Using 100 words or more please respond to the following post:
What were the most compelling topics learned in this course?
This course was not my most challenging course, but for some reason, my writing and punctuation skills went to the wayside. Writing and research are my strongest attributes, and I made a living at having excellent papers and tutoring other students. All of the subjects we studied during this semester were compelling. If I had to choose, I would select DB 3. This DB dealt with Asalah and the wearing of her scarf to and from work. She was hired to work in the female section of the county jail and insisted she wears her headscarf while working. It was a safety concern for her and the inmates, so it became an issue at the jail. I agreed that Asalah wearing the headscarf in the cafeteria would be ok as long as there were no inmates present. She was offered another position within the jail that would have kept her, and the inmates separated so that she could wear her headscarf. In my opinion, the hiring manager should have addressed all of these issues before hiring Asalah, not after she began work. This DB forces me to think outside the box and look at this issue from different points of view.
How did participating in discussions help your understanding of the subject matter?
Participating in discussion boards with my peers helped immensely. It’s always a great idea to read how other people feel about a subject. The various opinions and views from so many different backgrounds made our discussion boards enjoyable to read. I looked forward to reading our discussion boards to see how my classmates viewed the world from their points of view. It always amazed me that the same question given to our class could be answered in so many different ways. After reading a few of my classmates’ posts, I usually can pick out patterns in their writing. I noticed that the writing styles took on the writer’s feelings. Some people wrote with passion, and some wrote with a small chip on their shoulders. The bottom line is that I can’t remember reading a post without enjoying it.
Is anything still unclear that could be clarified?
I have thought about this question and do not have any subject that remains unclear.
What approaches could have yielded additional valuable information?
I love Intellipath and feel that it may have added on to our learning in this course. I like the fact that it is self-paced and gives you all of the confidence to do well in each class. I’m not positive, but since we are in a master’s program, I would have to assume Intellipath is not available.
